FUND DESCRIPTION: DWS Municipal Income Trust, formerly Deutsche Municipal Income Trust, formerly DWS Municipal Income Trust, formerly Scudder Municipal Income Trust, formerly Kemper Municipal Income Trust, is an exchange-traded closed-end fund (CEF) or a closed-end ETF that is officially described as a diversified, closed-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The DWS Municipal Income Trust seeks to provide high current income exempt from federal income tax. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund seeks to achieve its objective by investing in a diversified portfolio of investment grade tax-exempt municipal securities. During normal market conditions, at least 80% of the Fund's net assets will be invested in municipal securities. The Fund will invest substantially all of its net assets in tax-exempt municipal securities rated at the time of purchase within the four highest grades (Baa or BBB or better) by Moody's or S&P, respectively or unrated municipal securities which, in the opinion of the Adviser, have credit characteristics equivalent to, and will be of comparable quality. The Fund intends to emphasize investments in municipal securities with longer-term maturities (which are generally understood to be securities with maturities in excess of 7 years), but the degree of this emphasis will depend upon market conditions at the time of investment. The Fund may also employ trading strategies such as purchasing and selling securities on a when-issued and forward delivery basis and engaging in hedging techniques, including financial futures and options transactions. The Fund may also invest in inverse floaters. FUND MANAGEMENT: Deutsche Investment Management Americas, Inc. serves as the investment manager to the Fund.
