FUND DESCRIPTION: European Equity Fund, Inc. is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE: The Fund seeks long term capital appreciation through investment primarily (normally at least 80% of its assets) in equity and equity linked securities of companies domiciled in countries utilizing the Euro currency.
FUND STRATEGY: These currently consist of companies domiciled in the following 12 countries: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. The Fund will, as a matter of fundamental policy, invest under normal market conditions at least 80% of the value of its net assets in the equity and equity-linked securities of issuers domiciled in countries in Europe that utilize the Euro currency (plus 80% of any assets funded with leverage, although the Fund does not borrow money). The Fund can invest up to 20% of the volume of its net assets in securities of issuers domiciled in European countries that do not use the Euro currency.
FUND MANAGEMENT: Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. is the Fund's manager and Deutsche Asset Management International GmbH is the Fund's investment adviser. The Manager and the Investment Adviser are affiliated companies.
